So how was my Readercon?

Posted by: Scott    Tags:  Readercon    Posted date:  July 16, 2012  |  3 Comments

ComicCon and Readercon are now over, and surprisingly, I still managed to have fun at the latter even with the sad conflict that kept me away from it while working the former.

How is that possible? I had a solution.

Check out the fun I had, as dear friends and colleagues did their best to help me forget I was missing my first Readercon ever.

By now, those of you who’ve never been to a Readercon are probably asking, what’s with all the stickers?

Each year, Readercon holds a Meet the Pros(e) party Friday night, at which guests hand out stickers emblazoned with their favorite sentences, whether from a work in progress or a book they happen to love, and we all trade. It encourages mingling, because it gives even the shy a valid excuse to speak to anyone.

I guess after some people took the sentences I provided on sheets of address labels, they were moved to give me one of theirs. I don’t know who wrote the sentence that was placed over my brain, but it does seem apt, as it sums up my feelings about missing Readercon.

If you took a photo with me there that I’ve yet to see, please send it along. I can’t wait to find out how much further fun I had!

Must say I quite like the shot Jim Kelly took of me with your 2D self.

I now have caught up to you, in terms of number of Readercons attended. You better be there next year or I’ll start to pull ahead.

It was a great weekend, and good to see you there — even if you had something of a flat affect. Transporter lag, I assume.

Ah, so you’ve only missed a single Readercon? Yeah, I guess we’re tied, then … but unless you sent a flat Glenn Grant to the con the year you couldn’t make it, I still declare myself ahead by a hair. A very flat hair!
