Oh, to Be a Wooden Ship, Sailing an Endless Sea!

I’ve from time to time told friends who’ve asked what I’m working on that one story or another in progress is the strangest thing I’ve ever written, but I’ve stopped doing that because after a while I realized — strangeness is no stranger to me. Strangeness is my normality.

But having said all that, “Oh, to Be a Wooden Ship, Sailing an Endless Sea!,” released October 2025 in Bizarro Circus of Madness, is definitely as strange one.

The point of view characters include Schrödinger’s cat, the trolly from the Trolley Problem, the Ship of Theseus, and other hypothetical creations from thought experiments.

So … strange? I leave that to you to decide. But it’s also a tale of found family, so perhaps not so strange after all.
