It’s time for the third of five culinary conversations I brought back from the Glasgow Worldcon<\/a>, following my chats with Jenny Rowe<\/a>, creator of the one-woman show Tiptree: No One Else\u2019s Damn Secret But My Own<\/em>, based on the life of the remarkable James Tiptree Jr.\/Alice Sheldon, and Wole Talabi<\/a>, author of the seemingly universally acclaimed\u00a0Nommo Award-winning novel Shigidi And The Brass Head Of Obalufon<\/em>.<\/p>\n

This third episode I brought back features Paul Cornell<\/a>, with whom I\u2019ve been trying to break bread ever since the 2019 Dublin Worldcon. Paul started out writing Doctor Who<\/em> fan fiction, which led to him writing canonical Doctor Who<\/em> novels (where he created the companion Bernice Summerfield), audio plays, and comics. Plus he recently won the Terrance Dicks Award for lifetime achievement in Doctor Who writing from the Doctor Who Appreciation Society.<\/p>\n

But aside from his achievements in the Doctor Who<\/em> universe, he\u2019s created so many other awesome experiences for us. He\u2019s written episodes of\u00a0Elementary<\/em>,\u00a0Primeval<\/em>,\u00a0Robin Hood<\/em>,\u00a0and many other TV series, including his own children\u2019s show,\u00a0Wavelength<\/em>. \u00a0He\u2019s worked for every major comics company, including his creator-owned series\u00a0I Walk With Monsters<\/em>\u00a0for The Vault,\u00a0The Modern Frankenstein<\/em>\u00a0for Magma,\u00a0Saucer Country<\/em>\u00a0for Vertigo, and\u00a0This Damned Band<\/em>\u00a0for Dark Horse, plus runs on Young Avengers<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Wolverine<\/em>\u00a0for Marvel, and Batman<\/em> and Robin<\/em>\u00a0for DC, \u00a0<\/p>\n

He\u2019s the writer of the\u00a0Lychford\u00a0rural fantasy novellas from Tor.com\u00a0Publishing. His short fiction\u00a0has been published in Isaac Asimov\u2019s Science Fiction Magazine<\/em>, Interzone<\/em>, The Daily Telegraph<\/em>, The Times<\/em>, and at Tor.com, plus he also written for George R.R. Martin\u2019s Wild Cards<\/em>\u00a0short story anthologies. He\u2019s won the BSFA Award for his short fiction, an Eagle Award for his comics, a Hugo Award for his SF Squeecast<\/em> podcast, and shares in a Writer\u2019s Guild Award for his\u00a0Doctor Who<\/em> work.\u00a0 He\u2019s the co-host of\u00a0Hammer House of Podcast<\/em>. \u00a0 <\/p>\n
