This episode\u2019s dinner didn\u2019t come about due to a convention, but rather because I attended another installment of Baltimore\u2019s Charm City Spec reading series<\/a>, and invited one of the participants, Tobias Carroll<\/a>, to join me for an early dinner beforehand, the same as I did with Episode 218\u2019s guest Jo Miles<\/a> three months earlier.<\/p>\n

Carroll is the author of the novels Ex-Members<\/em>, Reel<\/em>, and In the Sight<\/em>, the short story collection Transitory<\/em>, and the nonfiction book Political Sign<\/em>. His essays and journalism have appeared in The New York Times<\/em>, InsideHook<\/em>, Literary Hub<\/em>, Tor.com<\/em>, the Portland Press-Herald<\/em>, Tin House<\/em>, The Collagist<\/em>, The Paris Review Daily<\/em>, Necessary Fiction<\/em>, Bookforum<\/em>, The Collapsar<\/em>, Joyland<\/em>, and many other publications. He writes a column on notable books in translation for Words Without Borders<\/em>. Plus he has a podcast of his own \u2014 Framed & Bound, in which bookish people discuss movies set in the literary world.<\/p>\n
