It’s time to return to the Rockville, Maryland convention Capclave<\/a> for a second episode of Eating the Fantastic, following my Peruvian lunch with Alex Shvartsman<\/a>. This time around you’re invited to dinner with Neil Clarke<\/a>, who’s best known as the editor and publisher of the Hugo and World Fantasy Award-winning\u00a0Clarkesworld<\/em><\/a> magazine, launched in October 2006. Clarkesworld<\/em> has been a finalist for the Hugo Award for Best Semiprozine four times (winning three times), the World Fantasy Award four times (winning once), and the British Fantasy Award once (winning once).<\/p>\n

Neil himself is also an eleven-time finalist for the Hugo Award for Best Editor-Short Form (winning twice), three-time winner of the Chesley Award for Best Art Director, and recipient of the 2019 Kate Wilhelm Solstice Award from SFWA. In the seventeen years since Clarkesworld<\/em> Magazine launched, stories that he\u2019s edited have been nominated for or won the Hugo, Nebula, World Fantasy, Sturgeon, Locus, BSFA, Shirley Jackson, WSFA Small Press, Stoker, and various other awards.<\/p>\n

He also \u00a0edits\u00a0Forever<\/em> \u2014 a digital-only, reprint science fiction magazine launched in 2015. His anthologies include:\u00a0Upgraded<\/em>,\u00a0Galactic Empires<\/em>,\u00a0Touchable Unreality<\/em>,\u00a0More Human than Human<\/em>,\u00a0The Final Frontier<\/em>,\u00a0Not One of Us<\/em>,\u00a0The Eagle has Landed<\/em>,\u00a0and the\u00a0Best Science Fiction of the Year<\/em> series. His latest anthology,\u00a0New Voices in Chinese Science Fiction<\/em>\u00a0(co-edited with Xia Jia<\/a> \u2014 who was a guest of this podcast way back in Episode 50 \u2014 and Regina Kanyu Wang), was published in July.<\/p>\n
