One example was <em>The Twilight Zone<\/em>.  <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d published &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/writing\/short-fiction\/fifth-dimension\/\">Fifth Dimension<\/a>&#8221; in its April 1983 issue, back when Ted Klein was the editor, but when I sent &#8220;The Man Who Lost His Music&#8221;&#8212;originally written  as a Clarion student in 1979&#8212;to  then-editor Tappan King in 1987, here&#8217;s what I got back in the mail.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/RejectionSlipTheTwilightZone.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/RejectionSlipTheTwilightZone-232x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"RejectionSlipTheTwilightZone\" width=\"232\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/RejectionSlipTheTwilightZone-232x300.jpg 232w, https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/RejectionSlipTheTwilightZone-794x1024.jpg 794w, https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/RejectionSlipTheTwilightZone.jpg 1700w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 232px) 100vw, 232px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p> For what it&#8217;s worth, that judgement on &#8220;The Man Who Lost His Music&#8221; appears to have been correct.
