Can it really be time to for me to invite you to eavesdrop on the 50th episode of Eating the Fantastic?<\/p>\n<p>Amazingly&#8212;yes, it can! <\/p>\n<p>Here we we are, more than 20 months later, and those of you who&#8217;ve followed my journey have listened as I\u2019ve shared at times full meals&#8212;at times a donut, during my two <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/2016\/07\/11\/celebrate-readercon-with-15-guests-eating-12-donuts-in-a-lightning-round-episode-of-eating-the-fantastic\/\">lightning<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/2017\/05\/29\/reminisce-about-51-years-of-balticon-as-13-guests-devour-12-donuts-in-a-lightning-round-episode-of-eating-the-fantastic\/\">round<\/a> episodes&#8212;with more than 75 guests. She\u2019s won five Galaxy Awards for Chinese Science Fiction as well as six Nebula Awards for Science Fiction and Fantasy in Chinese. But her science fiction skills have been visible on more than just the page, because she directed the 2007 science fiction film <em>Parapax<\/em>, in which she also acted, appearing as three different identities of the protagonist across parallel universes.<\/p>\n<p>We discussed how reading science fiction gave her the courage to take risks; what it means when she says she writes not hard SF, nor soft SF, nor slipstream, nor cyberpunk, but \u201cporridge sci-fi;\u201d why Ray Bradbury matters so much to her; the challenges of writing in Chinese, writing in English, and translating from one language to the other;
