{"id":23295,"date":"2017-04-05T21:44:04","date_gmt":"2017-04-06T01:44:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/?p=23295"},"modified":"2017-04-05T21:48:45","modified_gmt":"2017-04-06T01:48:45","slug":"as-of-today-ive-been-to-7-of-2017s-50-best-restaurants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/2017\/04\/05\/as-of-today-ive-been-to-7-of-2017s-50-best-restaurants\/","title":{"rendered":"As of today, I&#8217;ve been to 7 of 2017&#8217;s 50 Best Restaurants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theworlds50best.com\/list\/1-50-winners\">World\u2019s 50 Best Restaurants for 2017<\/a> were announced earlier today, and it turns out I&#8217;ve been to seven of them, one fewer than off <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/2016\/06\/13\/just-announced-the-worlds-50-best-restaurants-2016-and-ive-been-to-8-of-them\/\">the 2016 list<\/a>. But that&#8217;s only because Chef Ren\u00e9 Redzepi shuttered Noma, which held the #1 spot back when I had <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/2015\/04\/07\/celebrating-my-birthday-with-dinner-at-noma-the-worlds-1-restaurant\/\">my birthday dinner there<\/a> in  2015. You&#8217;ll find my reactions to those seven meals here, as well as a write-up of  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/2014\/05\/29\/in-which-the-nebula-awards-weekend-is-owned-by-manresa\/\">Manresa<\/a>, which came in at #90.<\/p>\n<p>My reaction to this year&#8217;s list is&#8212;man, do I need to get to Spain!<\/p>\n<p>Also&#8212;I really <em>must<\/em> go back to Eleven Madison Park. For&#8212;as you&#8217;ll see if you read my linked review below&#8212;while the food was flawless during my visit, I felt the presentation and ambience had been harmed by an overreaction on the part of the restaurant to a then-recent negative review. (At least, that&#8217;s <em>my<\/em> interpretation of what I experienced here.)
