I don’t know what other parts of the country are calling the blizzard which just finished walloping the East Coast, but the Washington Post<\/em> decided its name was Snowzilla<\/a>. And where I live, in Glengary, West Virginia, that name has certainly been earned, because as you can see by the final snow totals from the National Weather Service, we’re #1!<\/p>\n

But even before it was all over, by 3:45 p.m. Saturday, the New York Times<\/em> had already declared<\/a> Glengary the winner.<\/p>\n

That earlier mention of Glengary led to a several fun and fascinating side effects, beginning with a photo I’d posted online of me sitting out back on a bench being shared on Twitter by Darren Rovell<\/a>, an ESPN reporter with more than a million followers. His tweet<\/a> was liked and retweeted hundreds of times, eventually coming to the attention of both Good Morning America<\/em> and the BBC.<\/p>\n

I was contacted Saturday by Good Morning America<\/em>, who wanted to interview me Sunday morning, which resulted in me setting my alarm for 5:30 a.m., and when I woke, I saw the BBC had reached out at me as well. <\/p>\n

Which led to me sitting in the snow while I Skyped with a GMA<\/em> reporter in advance of the show, footage which does not seem to have been used based on yesterday’s Good Morning America<\/em> episode<\/a>. That makes sense, though, considering the sun had not yet risen, so not much could be seen through the darkness of what the blizzard had wrought.<\/p>\n

But things went much better with the BBC, since by around 8:15 a.m., when I Skyped with their correspondent, the sun had already come up. Check out what my UK friends saw live yesterday morning.<\/p>\n
