Life’s been strange lately, so it’s a bit late in the month for me to be gathering together the previous month’s dreams. But I’m doing it now anyway so I can see whether any theme’s been running through my subconscious. <\/p>\n
As with most months, no, there isn’t one, but I still enjoy the exercise. And judging by the response, some of you do, too.<\/p>\n
Last month, I dreamt of Jackie Onassis, Orson Welles, John Goodman, Raylan Givens … and Hitler!<\/p>\n

December 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n I dreamt Orson Welles caught up with me in a museum and said he wanted to follow me to study the way I talked. Which felt kind of insulting. 28 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I stopped at an old timey diner where the special of the day was fried sausage and banana. But sadly, I woke before I got a taste! 28 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n I dreamt that after a stray dog wandered my way, I decided to keep him. Which is so unlike me. Owning a living thing makes me uncomfortable. 28 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I bought a new house, but didn’t notice until we moved in that it was next to an abandoned apartment building overrun with ivy. 28 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I flew to NYC, but instead of landing at an airport, my plane touched down on an aircraft carrier floating in the Hudson River. 27 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt a neighbor of mine was arrested, and from the back of the squad car, told us not to worry. And we promised to care for her things. 27 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt that while driving I passed a car with a baby in the back. After smiling at it, I saw the driver was Hitler—in full Nazi garb! 27 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I snuck out of work for sushi, and while having my omakase, discovered my mother had gotten a job there, but was keeping it secret. 24 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n I dreamt I wandered a bustling (but unidentified) city in China looking for a particular dumpling house, but, alas, couldn’t find it. Sigh. 23 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I edited a science fiction magazine for new publisher J. J. Abrams. We were distressed to find pages out of order in the new issue! 22 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I moved to Providence, and while it was fun, those Rhode Island winters were much too cold. And don’t get me started on the snow! 22 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt my motorized chair that was supposed to turn into a car at the push of a button … didn’t. So I ended up going 80 mph in a CHAIR! 21 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I was in a hospital and spotted Person of Interest<\/em>‘s John Reese. I caught up with him, after which we got trapped in an elevator. 21 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt that while walking up Fifth Avenue, I spotted Jackie Onassis, who greeted me, and as we walked on, we reminisced about the ’70s. 20 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt @Marvel<\/a> surprised me by bringing me back to be Editor-in-Chief, and as I was being shown my new office, I bumped into @GerryConway<\/a>. 20 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt that as Readercon was breaking up, a series of hitmen came after me, and I only managed to survive by using Paul Di Filippo’s gun. 19 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I was in a bookstore which projected on its walls comics revealing the secret lives of all of us who were then inside. 18 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I worked at @DCComics<\/a> with Paul Levitz, explaining to an artist how to draw a JLA cover in which a giant foot was crushing them. 18 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n I dreamt I was Justified<\/em>‘s Raylan Givens, and attacked by Big Love<\/em>‘s Roman Grant. We fought until Walking Dead<\/em>‘s Carl hit him with his gun. 18 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I was a high school teacher, and watched as one of my students died while first aid was being administered. It was traumatic. 17 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt a woman I loved was arrested for a crime I committed, but when I confessed so she’d be released, no one believed I was the culprit. 17 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I was at a Star Wars<\/em> premiere where the manager urged us to eat the tie-in toys he handed out—but they were clearly inedible! 15 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I see by a semi-legible scribble that I had a dream last night about taking Lou Costello to the ER, but as to why, that’s lost to Morpheus. 14 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt a demon baby murdered my boss with a pair of scissors and pinned it on me, and as I went on the run, it continued to chase me. 14 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I fell into a pond, and when I climbed out found I had TWO @Fitbit<\/a>s on my wrist, and stood there puzzling which one was truly mine. 14 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt a guy had a heart attack in a coffee shop — as everyone ran, I made sure to leave a tip so I’d look good on surveillance footage. 14 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I was given a twisty toy which when folded one way formed a TARDIS and another way the Infinity Gauntlet, and was showing it off. 12 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I woke to find a jumbo jet parked in the field across from our house, and was puzzled by how it got there. Never figured it out. 11 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n I dreamt I was rushing to keep up with @BELUTHAHATCHIE<\/a> through NYC subways while not dropping a tray of sliced red peppers. Don’t ask why. 11 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I was in a sales meeting at Borders, as we debated how best to save the company. Guess we never managed to come up with good ideas! 10 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n I dreamt I was in a world where everything was made of bacon—cars, buildings, everything woven together from giant strips of the stuff. 10 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I was assistant to a high school principal, and phoned Tony Soprano to set up a meeting to talk about his kids. It didn’t go well. 7 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt I worked in the mail room of a NYC ad agency, and as I pushed my cart, I spotted my grandmother’s ghost, but couldn’t catch her. 7 Dec<\/em><\/p>\n \u2028I dreamt a promo came on TV for a Cheers<\/em> sequel starring Norm. In the first episode, he travels to Afghanistan!
