{"id":18077,"date":"2010-02-19T19:49:45","date_gmt":"2010-02-20T00:49:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/?p=18077"},"modified":"2015-01-19T23:06:39","modified_gmt":"2015-01-20T04:06:39","slug":"look-who-made-the-final-stoker-ballot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/2010\/02\/19\/look-who-made-the-final-stoker-ballot\/","title":{"rendered":"Look Who Made the Final Stoker Ballot!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Horror Writers Association today announced the nominees for the 2009 Stoker Awards, and I&#8217;m extremely happy to say that my novella, <i>The Hunger of Empty Vessels<\/i>, has  made the final ballot in the category of Superior Achievement in Long Fiction.<\/p>\n<p>Since so many people have already posted the entire ballot, I&#8217;ll save pixels by sending you elsewhere for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.horror.org\/news\/2009stokernominees.htm\">the complete list of categories<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Hunger.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Hunger.jpg\" alt=\"Hunger\" width=\"187\" height=\"288\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-195\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But here are the four finalists in mine:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>Dreaming Robot Monster<\/i> by Mort Castle (MIGHTY UNCLEAN)<br \/>\n<b><i>The Hunger of Empty Vessels<\/i> by Scott Edelman (Bad Moon Books)<\/b><br \/>\n<i>The Lucid Dreaming by Lisa Morton<\/i> (Bad Moon Books)<br \/>\n<i>Doc Good&#8217;s Traveling Show<\/i> by Gene O&#8217;Neill (Bad Moon Books)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Note that whatever happens, there&#8217;s already a clear winner here&#8212;Bad Moon Books, which published three of the four finalists.<\/p>\n<p>As much as I&#8217;m pleased to be on a ballot with three very worthy writers, I must admit that there&#8217;s one who pleases me more than the rest&#8212;Gene O&#8217;Neill, with whom I attended Clarion in 1979.
