{"id":18014,"date":"2010-02-03T08:28:19","date_gmt":"2010-02-03T13:28:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/?p=18014"},"modified":"2015-01-19T15:36:47","modified_gmt":"2015-01-19T20:36:47","slug":"look-whos-on-the-preliminary-stoker-ballot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/2010\/02\/03\/look-whos-on-the-preliminary-stoker-ballot\/","title":{"rendered":"Look Who&#8217;s on the Preliminary Stoker Ballot!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I woke this morning to discover that my novella <i>The Hunger of Empty Vessels<\/i> was one of 10 stories to have made the preliminary Stoker Awards ballot in the category of Superior Achievement in Long Fiction.  <\/p>\n<p>Those with long memories may recognize one of the other names on the ballot, Gene O&#8217;Neill, as that of a Clarion classmate of mine from 1979.  Back then, did we dare  dream we&#8217;d get this far? And even if we did, who ever dreamed we&#8217;d get this far <i>together<\/i>?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Hunger.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Hunger.jpg\" alt=\"Hunger\" width=\"187\" height=\"288\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-195\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Whatever happens next, the one real winner today is Bad Moon Books, which published five of the 10 semi-finalists.  In honor of that event, Bad Moon is having a sale on all of its nominated titles. If you don&#8217;t yet own a copy of <i>The Hunger of Empty Vessels<\/i>, here&#8217;s your chance to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.horror-mall.com\/THE-HUNGER-OF-EMPTY-VESSELS-by-Scott-Edelman-signed-limited-softcover-p-19599.html\">get one at a 20% discount<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So what happens now? HWA members will vote over the next two weeks, and on 2\/15, the five titles (unless a tie adds a sixth)  which make up the final ballot will be unveiled.
