{"id":17666,"date":"2009-11-20T22:22:40","date_gmt":"2009-11-21T03:22:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/?p=17666"},"modified":"2015-01-09T17:35:52","modified_gmt":"2015-01-09T22:35:52","slug":"so-how-much-just-for-the-frazetta-signature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/2009\/11\/20\/so-how-much-just-for-the-frazetta-signature\/","title":{"rendered":"So how much just for the Frazetta  signature?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An original Frank Frazetta painting originally used as the cover to the Lancer paperback edition of <i>Conan the Conqueror<\/i> <a href=\"http:\/\/scifiwire.com\/2009\/11\/frank-frazetta-conan-pain.php\"> sold last week for<\/a> $1,000,000.<\/p>\n<p>I may not own a Frazetta painting, but I do have his autograph, as you can see below, obtained back in the early &#8217;70s when I was  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/2007\/11\/27\/ghosts-of-conventions-past\/\">an annoying kid with a sketchpad<\/a>. The sheet below was signed either at the 1971 or 1972 July 4th weekend Phil Seuling Comic-Con. It couldn&#8217;t have been any earlier because I didn&#8217;t start doing this until after my first con, and it couldn&#8217;t have been later because Syd Shores passed away before the &#8217;73 convention.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to  Shores and Frazetta, you can also see Bruce Jones, Harvey Kurtzman, Jeff Jones, John Putnam, and Jerry DeFuccio below<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/FrankFrazettaSignature.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/FrankFrazettaSignature-300x255.jpg\" alt=\"FrankFrazettaSignature\" width=\"300\" height=\"255\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-17667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/FrankFrazettaSignature-300x255.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/FrankFrazettaSignature.jpg 846w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nI know that without a painting attached, the Frazetta signature alone  isn&#8217;t worth $1,000,000, so I&#8217;ll tell you what&#8212;feel free to knock off a zero.
