{"id":17654,"date":"2009-11-16T22:44:58","date_gmt":"2009-11-17T03:44:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/?p=17654"},"modified":"2015-01-09T17:26:59","modified_gmt":"2015-01-09T22:26:59","slug":"send-me-to-melbourne-by-buying-wrightson-jones-and-kaluta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/2009\/11\/16\/send-me-to-melbourne-by-buying-wrightson-jones-and-kaluta\/","title":{"rendered":"Send me to Melbourne by buying Wrightson, Jones, and Kaluta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In addition to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/2009\/11\/06\/own-vintage-original-johnny-romita-sr-and-val-mayerik-artwork\/\">Jazzy Johnny Romita and Valiant Val Mayerik<\/a> originals I picked up in 1974 that I&#8217;m currently in the middle of auctioning off to fund next year&#8217;s trip to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aussiecon4.org.au\/\">Melbourne Worldcon<\/a>, I put four other items on the block today. <\/p>\n<p>Check them out below!<\/p>\n<p>First is the <a href=\"http:\/\/comics.ha.com\/common\/view_item.php?Sale_No=191140&amp;Lot_No=14383\">signed and numbered Abyss promotional portfolio<\/a> with artwork by Berni Wrightson, Jeffrey Jones, Bruce Jones, and Mike Kaluta. Those are the Kaluta and Wrightson plates below. I picked up  this rare set at a Phil Seuling July 4th con sometime in the early &#8217;70s.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/AbyssPortfolio.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/AbyssPortfolio-300x220.jpeg\" alt=\"AbyssPortfolio\" width=\"300\" height=\"220\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-17655\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/AbyssPortfolio-300x220.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/AbyssPortfolio.jpeg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Next up is a <a href=\"http:\/\/comics.ha.com\/common\/view_item.php?Sale_No=191140&amp;Lot_No=14459\">1955 <i>Harold Teen<\/i> daily comic strip<\/a>.  <i>Harold Teen<\/i> was  a popular strip that ran from 1919 through 1959.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/HaroldTeen.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/HaroldTeen-300x103.jpeg\" alt=\"HaroldTeen\" width=\"300\" height=\"103\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-17656\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/HaroldTeen-300x103.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/HaroldTeen.jpeg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then come two prints colored and signed by Jim Steranko, one of the  Black Hood, the Shield, and Steel Sterling drawn by <a href=\"http:\/\/comics.ha.com\/common\/view_item.php?Sale_No=191140&amp;Lot_No=14401\">Irv Novick<\/a>, and the other of the Red Bee drawn by <a href=\"http:\/\/comics.ha.com\/common\/view_item.php?Sale_No=191140&amp;Lot_No=14402\">Lou Fine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/SterankColoring1.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/SterankColoring1.jpeg\" alt=\"SterankColoring1\" width=\"156\" height=\"201\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17657\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/SterankColoring2.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/SterankColoring2.jpeg\" alt=\"SterankColoring2\" width=\"156\" height=\"207\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17658\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Click on the links above to see the details.
