A big meeting was called, everyone who worked for the company was there, and at the front of the room,  all of the big shots like Don Draper, Roger Sterling, and Bert Cooper were seated at a long table.<\/p>\n<p>Bert gave me a &#8220;you&#8217;re supposed to be up here&#8221; look, which surprised me, as I didn&#8217;t realize I was that important. So I joined him at the table, and was beside him as he opened his briefcase and removed a set of index cards. He explained that the firm was in trouble, and the only way to save it was if we visited every client over the next day to prove how much their business meant to us. He handed out the cards so we each had our assignments.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/PeggyOlsonMadMen.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/PeggyOlsonMadMen.jpeg\" alt=\"PeggyOlsonMadMen\" width=\"267\" height=\"188\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17349\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cut to Peggy Olson&#8217;s apartment later that night, where I arrived with others  to strategize. I looked around the room and saw she had many comic books laying around, and talked with her briefly about that, because I had no idea she was into them. But we had no time for a lengthy discussion, and so got down to business.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Which somehow ended up with me singing the &#8217;70s Burger King jingle while holding a Whopper.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KJXzkUH72cY\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders don&#8217;t upset us,&#8221; I sang, surprised that she&#8217;d never heard it before, considering she worked in advertising . (Of course, now that I&#8217;m awake, I realize that in the world of <em>Mad Men<\/em>, the jingle hasn&#8217;t been written yet.)<\/p>\n<p>So I explain what the song means, how it tells customers that burgers are made fresh, talking while chomping down on my Whopper, and next thing I know all the others in the room are also singing to Peggy, and as we&#8217;re doing I suddenly realize &#8230; wait&#8212;why is Sawyer from <em>Lost<\/em> in the room, also with a Whopper in hand, singing along as if he  works for  Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, too?<\/p>\n<p>No idea, but I shrug it off, we chomp into our burgers, and sing Peggy the  song over again from the beginning.
