{"id":15982,"date":"2008-11-29T09:05:06","date_gmt":"2008-11-29T14:05:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/?p=15982"},"modified":"2014-10-05T20:36:42","modified_gmt":"2014-10-06T00:36:42","slug":"if-only-wal-mart-shoppers-had-read-dc-comics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/2008\/11\/29\/if-only-wal-mart-shoppers-had-read-dc-comics\/","title":{"rendered":"If only Wal-Mart shoppers had read DC Comics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Perhaps this is a completely inappropriate entry, but I couldn&#8217;t help but think that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/11\/29\/business\/29walmart.html?bl&amp;ex=1228107600&amp;en=95e0984e8f92cc7c&amp;ei=5087%0A\" target=\"_blank\">the recent  tragedy at Wal-Mart<\/a> could have been avoided if only those holiday shoppers at the Green Acres Mall had paid attention to those one-page public service ads which used to run &#8220;in cooperation with the National Social Welfare Assembly&#8221; in the pages of DC Comics.<\/p>\n<p>Those ads were hokey, but I loved them anyway.
