You’d think that lunch at The Fat Duck<\/a> and dinner at Dinner<\/a> would be enough Heston Blumenthal for one trip to London … but you would be wrong.<\/p>\n

Because as we headed for home, we had time for a final Heston Blumenthal meal—in Terminal 2 at Heathrow.<\/p>\n

I hate what you’re forced to put up with in airports. Bad Chinese food. Pizza that’s pizza in name only. BBQ that makes me cry … but in the wrong way. <\/p>\n

So when I heard back in June<\/a> that Blumenthal had opened The Perfectionists’ Caf\u00e9 at Heathrow, with a wood-fired oven and liquid nitrogen ice cream, I knew that’s where we had to have our last meal in London.<\/p>\n

So a burger for me …<\/p>\n

… fish and chips for Irene …<\/p>\n

\"PerfectionistsCafeFishChips\"<\/a><\/p>\n

… and liquid nitrogen ice cream for everybody!<\/p>\n

Which (for one of us, at least) meant liquid nitrogen vanilla ice cream and blackcurrant sorbet with dulce crunch pearls, caramel wafer crisps and white chocolate shavings.<\/p>\n

Imagine that. Real food … in an airport.<\/em><\/p>\n

A burger made with bread that wasn’t embarrassing. Fish and chips that weren’t soggy. And liquid nitrogen ice cream!<\/p>\n

No, it’s not The Fat Duck or Dinner. But an airport restaurant I’d actually want to eat at even if I wasn’t trapped in an airport? Finding that is akin to running across a unicorn.<\/p>\n
