{"id":12787,"date":"2008-04-24T18:08:24","date_gmt":"2008-04-24T22:08:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/?p=12787"},"modified":"2014-01-14T15:27:49","modified_gmt":"2014-01-14T20:27:49","slug":"i-get-buzzed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/2008\/04\/24\/i-get-buzzed\/","title":{"rendered":"I get Buzzed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fifteen years ago, long before I started working for the SCI FI Channel, I was <i>on<\/i> the SCI FI Channel.<\/p>\n<p><i>SCI FI Buzz<\/i>, which was then the Channel&#8217;s equivalent of <i>60 Minutes<\/i>, did a short feature highlighting me on the occasion of the first anniversary of <i>Science Fiction Age<\/i> magazine.  It was taped at ConFrancisco, the 1993 World Science Fiction Convention in San Francisco, and ran in December of that year.<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"425\" height=\"350\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/oIbMaTK6dbk\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/oIbMaTK6dbk\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"425\" height=\"350\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know how you&#8217;ll feel about watching this, but I wince a little,  not just because there&#8217;s a little bit more of me, but  also because there&#8217;s a little bit less.<\/p>\n<p>More, because I was heavier then.  Less, because I was trying so hard to present myself as a calm talking head and not  bounce around in my chair or talk with my hands that I seem more subdued than my usual bouncy self.  I was trying to be too cool about it all.  I appear too coy and sedate, and with the quiet manner of speech on display here, I remind myself of Jason Alexander playing George Costanza. <\/p>\n<p>You might feel differently.  In fact, I <i>hope<\/i> you feel differently.
