My tweet about the Alinea baby appeared on Good Morning America"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve eaten at both of Grant Achatz&#8217;s Chicago restaurants, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/2012\/09\/18\/next-alinea-the-aviary-and-the-greatest-amuse-bouche-the-universe-ever-gave-a-foodie\/\">Alinea and Next<\/a>, so when the Chef <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Gachatz\/statuses\/422172958090489856\">tweeted<\/a> about a crying baby that was making other diners mad, I definitely had an opinion. <\/p>\n<p>And as I just learned from my daily perusal of the foodie site <a href=\"http:\/\/eater.com\/archives\/2014\/01\/14\/grant-achatz-responds-to-the-crying-alinea-baby-on-gma.php\">Eater<\/a>, that opinion appeared, albeit edited, on this morning&#8217;s edition of <em>Good Morning America<\/em>. Unless we had a sitter, we did no fine dining when we had a child that age. It is ambiance. Was it <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Alinea\">@Alinea<\/a>? Wonder why my first assumption was <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NextRestaurant\">@NextRestaurant<\/a>? In any case, my feelings stand. No babies.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Scott Edelman (@scottedelman) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/scottedelman\/statuses\/422175374521270272\">January 12, 2014<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>As you can see, I&#8217;d been a little confused at first, thinking that the eight-month-old had been brought to Next, not Alinea, and what I meant when I wrote &#8220;my feelings stand&#8221; was that my feelings in the previous two tweets were as true for the latter restaurant as for the former. In any case, that became this &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/AlineaBabyTweet.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/AlineaBabyTweet-300x158.png\" alt=\"AlineaBabyTweet\" width=\"300\" height=\"158\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-12731\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/AlineaBabyTweet-300x158.png 300w, https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/AlineaBabyTweet.png 827w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; which I think left it unclear what &#8220;my feelings stand&#8221; meant.  Guess it was too complicated a tweet for them to run as is, what with four ampersands.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m amazed this incident has gone viral. Did you know that <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AlineaBaby\">the Alinea baby even has its own (satirical) Twitter account<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>A final note: No, I don&#8217;t hate babies. Hey, I  was once one myself. And when I find myself near a baby on a plane, I&#8217;m not put off, but instead spend the flight playing peekaboo. So I&#8217;m perfectly willing to let babies be babies. But at Alinea? Nah.
