We know these stories were more than merely apocryphal&#8212;but how many burnings actually took place? <\/p>\n<p>Nicholas Yanes is trying to answer that question.<\/p>\n<p>As part of his dissertation on the history of <em>Mad Magazine<\/em> and EC Comics, he&#8217;s been reviewing primary sources in search of accounts of those public protests, and has been able to find 16 documented cases.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/ComicBookBurnings.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scottedelman.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/ComicBookBurnings-189x300.jpg\" alt=\"ComicBookBurnings\" width=\"189\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-12397\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But there were more, weren&#8217;t there?
