Arrived back home late last night from a fun and exhausting World Fantasy Convention in Brighton<\/a>. There’s lots to tell you about good times with good friends and good food, but I’ve no time for that now, as I’ve got to leap into the work which allows<\/em> me to go to places like Brighton and have<\/em> those good times eating good food with good friends.<\/p>\n

So for now, let these nine photos stand in until I’m oriented back to life in the U.S. and am able to fill you in on the details …<\/p>\n

Stephen Jones’ Psycho-Mania!<\/em><\/a> anthology—which contains a story of mine—launched with a book signing at which I was told 23 contributors were on hand to autograph.<\/p>\n

My dinner at The Gingerman<\/a> with Farah Mendlesohn, Edward James, Shana Worthen and Russell and Jenny Blackford ended with a scrumptious apple souffl\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Afternoon tea with Kathleen Ann Goonan and her husband Joe at The Mock Turtle, supposedly the oldest tea shoppe in Brighton.<\/p>\n

Two giants of the field—Brian Aldiss and William F. Nolan\u2014both Lifetime Achievement Award winners\u2014shared wisdom beyond our ken at the World Fantasy Convention mass signing.<\/p>\n

I strummed the ukulele for several hours on both Saturday and Sunday, the first night with Nina Kiriki Hoffman and Lawrence Connolly, the second with Shelley Rae Clift.<\/p>\n

I told you I’d do it and did it—tracked down the insane cheeseburger crust pizza\u2014available for a limited time in the UK from Pizza Hut and widely mocked in the U.S.<\/p>\n

Managed to escape one morning from the convention to visit the surreal Jan \u0160vankmajer exhibit<\/a> hosted by the University of Brighton.<\/p>\n

With Bill Nolan, holding his Lifetime Achievement Award, after the banquet. Wish I’d remembered to tell him that I’d had a story published in a Logan’s Run<\/em> comic!<\/p>\n

And to top it all off, I discovered on my flight home that the chips offered with my snack were prepared thanks in part due to The Doctor!<\/p>\n
