My April 2011 dream tweets

Posted by: Scott    Tags:  dreams    Posted date:  May 5, 2011  |  No comment

I seem to have had fewer dreams in April than during any other month I’ve yet shared with you. Some of that is due to the exhaustion of two con weekends—Ad Astra and World Horror—which messed with my sleep cycle so much I was unable to bring any back from my subconscious. We had our daffodil party weekend that month, too, which also had me running on fumes.

In any case, here’s what April left me with—visits from Walt Disney, Adam-Troy Castro, Dan Aykroyd, Stan Lee … and maybe you.

April 2011

I dreamt I was at a snooty club ordering a drink and explaining to Barbara Walters why life was like an Amtrak train ride from DC to NYC. 26 Apr

I dreamt that when I opened my local newspaper, every comic strip there was drawn by the same guy — Dave Cockrum’s (nonexistent) brother. 25 Apr

I dreamt Paul Di Filippo and I found a cache of hand grenades near a school and raced to submerge them in wet concrete before they exploded. 25 Apr

I dreamt I was bitching because my favorite local comics shop was closing and would reopen where I’d never be able to visit it — in London. 25 Apr

I dreamt I was a woman dying of cancer who was working up the nerve to break up with her girlfriend in order to attend a Worldcon in Israel. 25 Apr

I dreamt I tried to crack open a safe — if clumsily hitting it over and over again with a hammer can in any way be considering “cracking.” 24 Apr

I dreamt I snuck into K. Tempest Bradford’s dorm room (next to my own) to pull a prank involving old timey rolls of fax paper and Mars bars. 24 Apr

I dreamt Stephen Colbert and I wandered a college campus as he told he about the new character he’d portray — the anime hero Charlie-Har. 24 Apr

I dreamt I wandered Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn, where I bumped into Bob Eggleton and asked him in amazement — Bob, when did you move HERE? 24 Apr

I dreamt I was at a luncheonette counter discussing spousal abuse, which I could see struck a nerve with the other couples sitting there. 24 Apr

I dreamt I took Maryland’s Intercounty Connector during a snowstorm, which soon became impassable because no one else was using the road. 24 Apr

I dreamt I’d won some kind of award and the trophy was a huge Carvel ice cream flying saucer I struggled to get home with before it melted. 24 Apr

I dreamt I pushed my way through the crowds at the Readercon bar and ran into Claude Lalumière. Surprisingly, we didn’t discuss Jack Kirby. 23 Apr

I dreamt I drove our lawnmower to the liquor store to buy alcohol for Irene while chatting on my cell with Marie Severin about visiting. 23 Apr

I dreamt of Archie Goodwin and George R.R. Martin, making a potential anxiety dream about the Hugo Awards vanish: http://tinyurl.com/3uwjlp8 21 Apr

I dreamt I’d gone back to work for Marvel, and phoned George Roussos to ask for cover corrections. I was surprised he didn’t remember me. 21 Apr

I dreamt I played catch with a couple of kids I didn’t know I had. When the ball went into a yard, I had to brave a big dog to retrieve it. 18 Apr

I dreamt I saw (dead in real life) Curt Swan at Comic-Con. I tried to take a photo with him to show Irene, but his handler hurried him away. 18 Apr

I dreamt I was at a cocktail party with Stan Lee and was stunned when he began flirting with my friend young enough to be his granddaughter. 17 Apr

I dreamt I pulled out my laptop so I could show an extremely interested Stephen Colbert the trailer for an upcoming remake of The Exorcist. 17 Apr

I dreamt I was writing down the dreams I’d just dreamt so I would remember them, and when I woke (really woke, not woke in dream), I could! 17 Apr

I dreamt I helped Harlan Ellison pack for a move out of California, though the destination he was moving TO stayed behind in dreamland. 17 Apr

I dreamt Michael Cassutt attended a seminar in our home, and when he pulled out a cigarette and lit up Irene sternly told him to put it out. 17 Apr

I dreamt my wife, my son and I were bumped off our flight home from China, and were scrambling to find an alternate way out of Beijing. 16 Apr

I dreamt I met with two agents who declined to represent me because I was “too depressing.” They asked if I could be more frothy. I said no. 15 Apr

I dreamt I opened an unfamiliar comic book and was delighted to find it had been written by Deb Newton, who I didn’t know did such things. 14 Apr

I dreamt I was shot at repeatedly, but luckily, I was a shapeshifter, and by shifting my shape over and over was able to dodge every bullet. 14 Apr

I dreamt I was wandering a high school on a nonexistent TV show and thinking how much more realistic the relationships were than on Glee. 13 Apr

I dreamt I sat next to Jon Favreau when I was called onstage to accept an Oscar. I was surprised — I hadn’t realized I’d directed a movie! 13 Apr

Lost one of my dreams because this scribbled middle-of-the-night note doesn’t act as a catalyst: “Alex Keaton Bryan Cranston kid grow up.” 13 Apr

I dreamt I was on a LIRR train carrying glass animal sculptures to deliver to some famous writer — don’t remember who — on behalf of Syfy. 12 Apr

I dreamt I climbed a mountain to visit George Lucas’ grave while dressed as a stormtrooper. (But don’t worry — I wore the suit ironically.) 12 Apr

I dreamt I walked a snowy path along the side of Mt. Everest which collapsed behind and ahead of me, and I waited on the shelf for rescue. 11 Apr

I dreamt a dead friend was reincarnated into a flower, and I railed against God not for the death, but because He then let it be plucked. 11 Apr

I dreamt I flipped through a massive book on the history of DC Comics (but not the Paul Levitz one) while Irene sat beside me. I was happy. 8 Apr

I dreamt I walked through snow-clogged streets with Dr. Joyce Brothers, wending our way around drifts, discussing Dan Aykroyd’s film career. 8 Apr

I dreamt Walt Disney wanted to buy my drawings to use in Pinocchio. He was all smiles, but wouldn’t let me phone for help with the contract. 7 Apr

I dreamt Irene shook me awake, shouting that we’d both somehow slept past noon, after which we ran around like lunatics trying to catch up. 5 Apr

I dreamt I frantically roamed the streets of Manhattan in search of my parked car, because I had no memory at all of where I’d left it. 5 Apr

I dreamt that as Irene and I rushed through an airport to get boarding passes home from Australia, I thought I saw a young Archie Goodwin. 4 Apr

I dreamt that with Irene sick back at our hotel, I wandered the streets of Prague late at night in the rain, missing her. 4 Apr

I dreamt Irene and I wandered Manhattan and discovered corporations now owned its shores, charging for views of the Statue of Liberty. 4 Apr

I dreamt Adam-Troy Castro sent me a birthday card containing a never-before-published story of his. Wish I could remember anything about it! 4 Apr

I dreamt I entered an enclosure with a German Shepherd, where I let him sit in my lap and chew on his favorite toy: Iron Man’s metal helmet. 3 Apr

I dreamt that while waiting in line with two tall girls I once knew in high school, we discussed how old we were when our growth spurts hit. 3 Apr

I dreamt that while I waited for my order at fast food joint, the employees ate their own product and sprayed bits all over the counter. 3 Apr

I dreamt I tried to check out of a hotel, but every time I pulled singles out of my wallet to tip the maid, they turned into $100 bills. 2 Apr

I dreamt I visited Marvel and DC after an earthquake. Marvel was in hysterics. At DC they sat in the rubble producing quake-inspired comics. 2 Apr

I dreamt I returned to my Jeep during a trip with Irene and found all of the suitcases in a circle, and empty. Even the clothing was gone! 2 Apr

I dreamt I was exiting a train when I noticed pages from an unpublished Tiptree manuscript scattered about, and tried to collect them all. 2 Apr

I dreamt Irene, my son, and I were handling a shotgun so large and complicated it took all three of us to manipulate and clean it properly. 1 Apr

I dreamt I walked the halls of a maze-like hotel in search of my room, and when I finally found it, the door instead opened on an elevator. 1 Apr

I dreamt I wandered Times Square, weighed down by pockets bulging with quarters, searching for my parked car, which I never found. 1 Apr
