September 2010 Tweet Dreams

Those of you who follow me on Twitter or Facebook already know that I reported far fewer dreams during September than any other month since I began tweeting those I remembered each morning. In case you were worried that my dream life was drying up … it’s not.

It’s just that during our trip to Australia and New Zealand, I’d be so exhausted each night I’d forget to place a pad by the side of the bed on which I could scribble during the night, and so when I’d wake the next morning, I’d find most dreams had evaporated. But now that I’m home, I’m back to recording them once more.

So here’s what September left behind.

SEPTEMBER 2010

I dreamt Priscilla Olson showed me video she shot of a building which featured a Sistine Chapel-like ceiling of Marvel and DC superheroes. September 30, 2010 8:16:38 AM EDT

I dreamt Ellen Datlow was handing out invitations to a birthday party celebrating some major number. (And it was to be held in Warsaw.) September 29, 2010 8:21:51 AM EDT

I dreamt that while touring London, I grew so tired I lay down in the middle of a crowded intersection and fell asleep. No one disturbed me. September 29, 2010 8:18:41 AM EDT

I dreamt I celebrated my 40th anniversary of con-going by handing out HUGE commemorative badge ribbons that contained an entire short story. September 29, 2010 8:16:31 AM EDT

I dreamt I worked in a morgue, and was preparing for a Moon trip by reading a training manual with a dead, bloated horse on the cover. September 29, 2010 8:13:07 AM EDT

I dreamt I was a teenager, and still living with my parents in their 1970s’ apartment. Only I wasn’t me. I was Jeff VanderMeer! September 27, 2010 8:01:53 AM EDT

I dreamt I wore a weird, massive, steampunk bracelet I’d soldered together out of used auto parts, but was forbidden to wear it on the job. September 27, 2010 7:59:22 AM EDT

I dreamt that it was the final day of a perfect Readercon, and my friends were dispersing back to their lives. It was melancholy moment. September 27, 2010 7:57:27 AM EDT

I dreamt that while staying at a hotel, another guest I never met invaded my room, and proceeded to set the contents of the closet on fire. September 27, 2010 7:54:21 AM EDT

I dreamt that while wandering a post-apocalyptic world, I came upon an empty castle and stole the munitions I found there, firing rockets. September 27, 2010 7:52:05 AM EDT

I dreamt I was having Scott Pilgrim-like adventures, only I wasn’t Scott Pilgrim’s Michael Cera — I was Rushmore’s Jason Schwartzman. September 26, 2010 8:08:48 AM EDT

I dreamt I attended a promotional event at San Diego Comic-Con where I was stunned to see Stan Lee barred because no one recognized him. September 25, 2010 7:38:43 AM EDT

I dreamt I bumped into Roger Ebert in a hotel. We discussed Jack Williamson (still alive in dream) and Jack’s original pulp art collection. September 24, 2010 7:39:29 AM EDT

Worst part of the dream I just had wasn’t saying goodbye to friends forever. It was the knowing I’d never be able to discuss our adventures. September 23, 2010 8:05:24 AM EDT

Very sad dream. I returned from an intergalactic space-time adventure, and saying farewell to my companions, I knew we’d never meet again. September 23, 2010 7:59:12 AM EDT

I dreamt Irene and I were wandering Providence, and when she began to cry, Fionnula Flanagan from TV’s Brotherhood came over to comfort her. September 22, 2010 8:11:55 AM EDT

I dreamt I was on staff at the Dr. Phil show, and when there was a bomb threat, I had to fill in the SWAT team on all the details. September 22, 2010 8:06:03 AM EDT

I dreamt I ran into a group of IRS agents, and when I mentioned I worked for Marvel Comics, they laughed and gave each other knowing looks. September 22, 2010 8:04:21 AM EDT

I dreamt I was listening to a forgotten 1950s’ radio ad for an SF magazine (maybe Galaxy?) that included a theme song sung by Charlotte Rae. September 21, 2010 7:41:13 AM EDT

I dreamt that while visiting Ireland I’d break into Irish dances in tourist areas at completely inappropriate times. And my parents watched. September 20, 2010 8:16:25 AM EDT

I dreamt I took a taxi to the Manhattan offices of Sovereign Media to pick up an advance copy of the next issue of Science Fiction Age. September 20, 2010 8:12:47 AM EDT

I dreamt I was in a dark room as zombies shambled along a bright hallway outside. Whenever one came toward me, I split its skull with an ax. September 17, 2010 8:07:05 AM EDT

I dreamt I phoned Cory Doctorow to tell him I _wouldn’t_ be phoning, just so he wouldn’t hang around waiting for my call. September 17, 2010 3:32:00 AM EDT

I dreamt I was writing, drawing, and lettering an American Splendor-style comic story of my life. (Awake, I could only do one of those.) September 17, 2010 3:30:04 AM EDT

I dreamt my mother was begging me to fight to help keep my grandmother (who in life died years ago) alive. I’m not sure what the issue was. September 16, 2010 8:38:39 AM EDT

I dreamt that playful slapping between De Niro and Nicholson over gambling debts degenerated into a vicious fist fight. And I was De Niro. September 16, 2010 8:34:19 AM EDT

I dreamt someone shot at me using a blank-filled gun. When I shot back, mine had real bullets. But what does that have to do with #Worldcon? September 4, 2010 6:38:43 PM EDT

During post-bazillion hour trip to #Worldcon nap, I dreamt a tuxedoed John Scalzi served ice cream to all Hugo nominees after the ceremony. 3:20 AM Sep 1st
