The Only Wish Ever to Come True

I can remember exactly where I was when when my subconscious gave me this story.

I was in Manhattan, walking east on 42nd Street toward the United Nations, thinking of nothing but my free afternoon ahead, when out of nowhere, with no apparent catalyst, the plot popped into my head.

The tale, which was published in the penultimate issue of Talebones, takes the familiar “three wishes” concept and, I hope, turns it upside down and inside out in a new and interesting way.

I have no idea what part of my subconscious gave me this gift, as the story came to me effortlessly, but it doesn’t happen often enough.
