As I look at markets, I'm distressed at how many top out at 2,000 or 4,000 words. IMHO, anything shorter than 5,000 words is FLASH FICTION!

The story I'm working on is short and simple and fragile. Its arc is so delicate I fear the slightest foreshadowing misstep will destroy it.
