Scott Edelman: Magazine Editor
SCI FI
The Official Magazine of the SCI FI Channel
SCI FI covers upcoming SF, fantasy and horror movies and TV, as well as genre books, games, videos and more. I first edited this magazine, under its original title of Sci-Fi Entertainment, with the December 1996 issue. At the time, the magazine was being published by Sovereign Mediathe company for which I edited numerous other magazinesunder license from the SCI FI Channel.
I took over the position from editor Bob Martin, who had taken over from editor Ted Klein. I continued overseeing the media magazine until its June 2000 issue, by which time we had modernized the look and changed the magazine's name to, simply, SCI FI. I left to take over as editor of Satellite ORBIT magazine, where I remained until accepting the position as editor of Science Fiction Weekly.
To my surprise, I was later given the chance to edit SCI FI once more, only this time as an employee of the SCI FI Channel. (A long and winding road, if there ever was one.) I started up again with the February 2002 issue. This means that I am currently the editor of both a genre print and Web magazine.
I was hired Labor Day 2000 to edit Science Fiction Weekly, the weekly (as the name implies) Internet magazine of news, reviews and interviews. This was my first exposure to Web publishing. The magazine first went live on August 15, 1995, founded by editor and publisher Craig Engler, who is General Manager of SCIFI.com.
